Marat Bisengaliev, Violon; Temirzhan Yerkhavov ,Piano; New American
Chamber Orchestra, Yuval Waldman, conductor
The New American Chamber Orchestra played a tremendously varied concert
at Merkin Hall on November 20th. Led by the excellent Yuval Waldman,
the concert celebrated Kazakhstan’s Independence Day…Three
composers from Kazakhstan and four from America were represented.
Mr. Marat Bisengaliev, the violin soloist, had a splendid tone and great
dynamics. He is certainly a major talent.
The world premiere of Serkebayev’s Piano Concerto Number 3 for
strings, percussion and violin was the right choice to end the evening.
Pianists Terirzhan Yerzhanov gave a towering performance of this serious
concerto, as did percussionist James Neglia…Mr. Waldman and his
small group did a fine job in this grandly virtuosic piece.

Reviews for Yuval Waldman
Business and Government, Alamaty, Kazakhstan. “Waldman is an overwhelming
violinist and conductor…he gets something from an orchestra in
a few hours that many conductors get only after working with them for
years…one might say that he is a missionary of world music…when
he plays the notes [they] touch the human essence.”
Kazahk Pravda, Alamaty, Kazakhstan.. “You can call Yuval Waldman
the master of composing programs…The artist showed unusual ability
to understand other musical worlds…he played like he had played
[Kazakh] music all his life, with great individuality and understanding…deafening
applause…
